Most Recent Cake!

11/20/2013

Back in September I made a baptism cake. It was quite fun to make but up to the day I was to frost it I had no idea how I wanted to decorate it. Besides the idea of using Oreo cookies for one of the elements. But, here's the finished product, and then I'll take you through some of the process.
Picture
                                                                      Ta-da!!
I thought it turned out pretty nice. (If I do say so myself!) = )
Picture
The chocolate pieces on top were pretty cool! They might have been my favorite part!
Picture
So my idea for the Oreo cookies, was to blend them up and then press them against the side of the cake. About half way up the side or more.
Picture
Then have the cookie taper off like this.
I thought it was an easy but cool idea and it turned out pretty nice!

Picture
Next, the border. I love this border because it's fun and easy! I have done it before on a baby shower cake and really liked it. So I had this idea in the back of my mind too.

See, I had these ideas but I didn't know if they would all look good once I brought them together one one cake.
Picture
                                                                               The border....
Kinda sloppy there on top, in the front. Should have turned the cake a little bit more for the picture. ; )
Picture
Last but not least, the names of the baptizes. Now, I was not totally happy with the color they turned out to be. I would have LOVED to have made the names brown. But we happened to be out of brown. = ( I resorted to do a maroon purple. This is how the color turned out to be and thankfully all the baptizes were girls. = )
Picture
Picture
All finished! (Not the best picture of me.) I put the chocolate pieces on once we got to the place so that they wouldn't fall off.

Picture
One of the best parts of this cake though, was the filling. I made an Oreo cookie filling. Oh, it was SO good! You can get the recipe, Here. I didn't make the cake from that recipe, I just made the filling.
And for the flavors of the baptism cake; they were vanilla and chocolate. I made one chocolate cake and one vanilla and cut them in half. Then I stacked them, switching off flavors.

Over all, I'd say this cake was a success! Everyone loved it and it was delicious!
And...I'm happy with how it turned out! = )

Have a sweet day!

When Life Throws A Fast Ball At You.

11/3/2013

I have been such a bad blogger on here lately.  My horse blog has gotten my full attention. = ) Sorry for all you non horsey folks. = ) Hopefully I will be posting on here at the least once a week now.
I'll update you on whats been going on-
It seems like life threw a fast ball at me and I have been busy trying to hit it. But you know what? You can't hit a ball without a bat. And you won't know if you got a strike or a home run if you don't have an umpire. In other wards- If your don't have God's Word to guide you, (your bat) and you don't have the Lord as your umpire, you are going to be standing at that home plate forever, watching the balls go by.

During the week I have school, Monday through Friday. It takes me about three to three and a half hours to do it. Thursdays I have a job cleaning someones house. I do that while my sisters have piano lessons. The Lord worked it out really nicely so my mom only has to drive us four girls to our things once a week. The lady that gives the girls piano lessons, actually lives in a house, (They are actually renting from the lady I work for.) right next door. Very handy! = )

I am getting ready for our annul Christmas cookie exchange. I am made the "save the date cards" and those are already out. I am very excited for all the holidays coming up!

I am taking Chester to an arena, once a week, and riding him. That's been loads of fun! For more info on that, go to his blog. countryhitchingpost.blogspot.com

We took my senior pictures a few weeks ago. That was fun; you'll see the pictures this Spring.

Hopefully I will keep this blog updated and start posting more frequently. = ) We'll see!
Hope you are all having a nice fall!
Sending blessings to you all!

To start off, my bangs have grown out a lot! I know it may be weird blogging about my bangs, but I told you guys I had gotten them so I thought I would show you how much they have grown.
Picture
                     First day.....
Picture
                  A few weeks ago...
In the picture that I took a few weeks ago, I had just washed, dried and straightened them. That's why they are so shiny. ; ) Also, as that was a few weeks ago, they are over my eye's now. I am trying to decided whether to cut them again, (not as short) or style/cut them as side bangs. Any Ideas?

Oh, and no, I am not a Halo fan. My Dad got the shirt when he worked on Halo.

Next, my first ridding lesson. For more details on that, go to Chester's blog. countryhitchingpost.blogspot.com

My birthday was September 20th. I did a quick post on that, that day. My mom put this on our chalk board in our dinning room.
Picture
I chose to have a Costco cheese cake. My sister and her friend made these little signs for on top of the cake. It was so cute!

That's me...if you didn't know. = ) Obviously the date is wrong on the camera!

Picture from last year....grown up a little. But I guess that happens, right?
Picture
Smile! Cheese! Ha. Ha. Ha. Get it? Cheese cake....

Ya....Anyway! =) I had a Great birthday!
Picture
My Dad needed to clean some stuff on the roof, so my sisters and our friends sat up there for a little bit enjoying the view.
Our house it pretty tall....so they had to be Very careful.
Picture
Here is a picture of our house. I could only find one when it was half painted last summer. Sorry! ; ) Oh, and on the left side of our house, there is a hill, so that makes it even steeper on that side.

Have a fabulous Fall day!

Where I Stand as a blogger.

Recently, well, more like the past few months, I have been thinking about what type of blogger I want to be. For instants; do I want to be the type of blogger that blogs every day, twice a week, perhaps whenever I have time, or maybe one big post per week? And then I think, well... do I do long posts, short posts, whatever I feel like? But do people like consistence posts, or do they like the randomness?

I decided to ask you guys- what type do you enjoy following? And what type do you guys enjoy reading? Just shout it out in a comment!

It's our Birthday today! We are both eighteen! We were both born in 1995 and by God's grace have lived 18 wonderful years! I met and got Chester on December 10, 2011 and have had him ever since! We are perfect for each other and I could not have gotten or wanted a better first horse.

                                                      Happy Birthday Chester!

                                                              Isn't he so cute!?

I actually don't know when his birthday is. But I decided to celebrate it with mine sense we're the same age!

You all have a great day- as it's one of my favorite days of the year!

Storm, The Cat.

Ashly took some pictures of her cat, Storm, the other day. They turned out pretty cool!
Storm always keeps us laughing and adds such fun to our lives. He is quite the character. From a little angel one moment to a lion the next!
Picture
                                                Storm is on the move!
Picture
Picture
It's hard being famous and having to pose for so long!
Picture
He decided to take a little cat nap! =) You know, cat take a lot of naps. And they aren't always little short ones. Our cats may come in the house and sleep for a couple hours. But, other times they do take cat naps. The longer ones tend to be on rainy days. = )
Yet, our cats aren't exactly lazy either. Puff, some days, will catch several rodents. Always happy about that!

Have a great Thursday Friends!

We got a few loads of hay awhile ago. We stocked up for the winter. More like the Fall, as we have already gone through, a third of it?
Picture
This is not all of it-we had already taken a bunch of it over to the barn.
Picture
                                                               Our lovely trailer!

Here is how I transported the bales. Haha, kinda weird uh? Well, you do what you gotta do! That is actually my horses manure wagon. We will get our moneys worth out of it by the time we're done using it. It's a tough little guy!

Anyways! Hope the weeks been pleasant for you all! I know that everybody's schedules are getting busier with school starting. We are starting next week. Unfortuentely when school starts I won't have as much time to blog. So please be patient with me! I will try my best to do a couple posts a week. =)

Blessings,
