Back in September I made a baptism cake. It was quite fun to make but up to the day I was to frost it I had no idea how I wanted to decorate it. Besides the idea of using Oreo cookies for one of the elements. But, here's the finished product, and then I'll take you through some of the process.
Ta-da!!
I thought it turned out pretty nice. (If I do say so myself!) = )

The chocolate pieces on top were pretty cool! They might have been my favorite part!
So my idea for the Oreo cookies, was to blend them up and then press them against the side of the cake. About half way up the side or more.
Then have the cookie taper off like this.
I thought it was an easy but cool idea and it turned out pretty nice!

Next, the border. I love this border because it's fun and easy! I have done it before on a baby shower cake and really liked it. So I had this idea in the back of my mind too.
See, I had these ideas but I didn't know if they would all look good once I brought them together one one cake.

The border....
Kinda sloppy there on top, in the front. Should have turned the cake a little bit more for the picture. ; )

Last but not least, the names of the baptizes. Now, I was not totally happy with the color they turned out to be. I would have LOVED to have made the names brown. But we happened to be out of brown. = ( I resorted to do a maroon purple. This is how the color turned out to be and thankfully all the baptizes were girls. = )
All finished! (Not the best picture of me.) I put the chocolate pieces on once we got to the place so that they wouldn't fall off.
One of the best parts of this cake though, was the filling. I made an Oreo cookie filling. Oh, it was SO good! You can get the recipe, Here. I didn't make the cake from that recipe, I just made the filling.
And for the flavors of the baptism cake; they were vanilla and chocolate. I made one chocolate cake and one vanilla and cut them in half. Then I stacked them, switching off flavors.
Over all, I'd say this cake was a success! Everyone loved it and it was delicious!
And...I'm happy with how it turned out! = )
Have a sweet day!
