Sour dough! Oh ya!
Ok, ya'll have to try this! This is so easy and super fun. Well, if you have patience and a little extra time.
Today I am going to take you through my sour dough experiences so far....
I wanted to make some sour dough biscuits a while ago but you needed to make the starter to make them. (Of course!) So.....after a couple times of trying to get my starter going with potatoes and a little water as the recipe said, I kept failing.
I decided to do a "regular" simple, sour dough starter recipe. It turned out and was great! But...lo' and behold...did you know that fruit flies LOVE sour dough? Oh, well I didn't! I had to throw the entire batch out as seven fruit flies decided to taste it, then drowned.
One other thing....I still didn't quite know how to keep a sour dough starter. So one day I sat down and researched sour dough starter, sour dough, how to keep sour dough alive, sour dough bread and sour dough on Wikipedia. I did my proper research like I should have done in the very beginning.
Let that be a lesson to you.......Research!!!!
Then with a educated mind I started my next and final batch of sour dough starter!
I took some pictures as I made it to share with.
I also put a link below for the website that has the recipe I used. It is basically an article on sour dough starter. If you make the sour dough starter, I really, really, really, recommend that you read through the whole article!

First you find a big glass (NOT plastic or metal) read the recipe to find out.) jar or bowl. I recommend, that whatever you start the stater in, let that be the "container" that you are going to keep it in.
You put the flour, yeast and sugar in it...

See...
Then add your water and mix it up.
It is ok if there are lumps. I would also recommend to leave lumps. Don't mix it like you're in a whisking contest.

You should see bubbles pretty quick after you stop mixing. Well, ya know, a minute or two!
The little specs there are bubbles.
Then cover it up! But don't seal it! Read the directions! = )
I put a paper towel over it and then just closed the lid over it but didn't latch it.
I already made some sour dough bread with it and it turned out great. It wasn't that sour though has it hadn't sat that long...but for more info on that, check the recipe!
I put the recipe for the bread I made below too.

Have you guys ever made a sour dough starter? Or been given one? Or maybe your mom gave you one that has been passed down through the generations. THAT would be really cool!
Any stories? I would be glad to hear them!
